The entire Bear Grylls collection was designed to be put to work out in the wild and the Folding Sheath Knife seems to be a staple for that. Comfortable to hold, easy to carry and the right blade size and style for an all-around outdoor knife, you’ll be happy with your choice.

Form and Function

I bought this as a low-cost camping knife to avoid beating up my shinier EDC favorites. It quickly ended up being the one I grabbed for just about everything around the house, and here’s why:

It has rubber grips that hold their form perfectly but are soft enough to minimize slip. The plastic end caps are nothing fancy and probably wouldn’t smash through glass or tough materials, but they don’t detract from the overall sturdy feel of the knife. The locking mechanism is fantastic and just makes you feel good when it locks into place.

Then there’s the blade. Just the right thickness, the blade is made of high-carbon stainless steel and has a dual-sided thumb stud allowing for ambidextrous use. It’s edge is half-serrated (perfect for rope and fabric) and half straight (ideal for cooking, wood carving and virtually everything else). It comes with a sheath with a belt loop instead of it having a pocket clip, putting to bed any urban EDC hopes, but if I’m going to be in the woods, this is the folder I am bringing, hands down.
